A new Twitter update will enable users to see if they’ve been “shadowbanned,” Twitter CEO Elon Musk has announced. The update that will show users their true account status if they have been shadowbanned, the reason why and how to appeal.
What is a Twitter Shadow Ban?
A shadow ban refers to partially blocking or blacklisting a user’s profile to reduce visibility without their knowledge. It may lead to less engagement with the account and low visibility of posts.
While the shadow ban is not directly visible, users can notice a drop in engagement and visibility.
According to the update, the microblogging site will have more visibility and transparency as software can check if an account has been shadowbanned and how to appeal the decision.
Musk tweeted, “Twitter is working on a software update that will show your true account status, so you know clearly if you’ve been shadowbanned, the reason why and how to appeal.”
