  1. The outgoing Managing Director MD for Zimbabwe’s converged Telecommunications State Owned TelOne Chipo Mtasa has said she is bowing out of her role at the helm of TelOne with her head held high.

Mtasa who has served two five year terms steps down as TelOne Managing Director and boss end of this year ,2022.

Speaking exclusively to TechnoMag , the Managing Director gave her parting words stating,

“I am most humbled my dear brother ! All Glory and Honour to Him .
Your support kept me going and I am eternally grateful. Let this not be a goodbye but we keep in touch
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️.”

Also in a letter addressed to her staff, in possession of TechnoMag, the outgoing MD said:

“As I look back at the last 10 years and the progress that we have made, the challenges that we have conquered, the lessons that we have learnt, the dreams that we have shared and above all the friendships that we have created; a big part of me feels sad to be saying goodbye.

“I take a bow with my head high because of how you all worked so hard to build the TelOne brand and all the achievements we scored. Being associated with this amazing brand will remain a highlight of my career which I will so proudly acclaim.

“Together we started the journey to transform TelOne and so it is my wish for those that will come after me and indeed the rest of the TelOne team to keep moving forward and do even better.”

TelOne shifted its focus and strategy from the fixed-line business on which it was founded to becoming a more broadband-focused company under the able astute leadership of Mtasa.

Broadband, for the first time, started contributing more to earnings than voice in 2018 after accounting for 49.8% of revenue, compared to 38% in 2017.

As she made it pot and clara, Mtasa is stepping down “with my head high” as Managing Director of TelOne after a decade in the post.

She was appointed MD of the state-owned telecoms company in 2013, and leaves at the end of this month after serving her two terms, as required by regulations governing Zimbabwean parastatals.
