ZimSat1 To Be Deployed Into Orbit Today

The Japanese will soon be deploying Zimbabwe Satellite, ZimSat1 which was launched last month.

Zimsat is among the four cube satellites that will be deployed into orbit by the Japanese Experiment Module Kibo. The broadcast will be on the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency YouTube Channel today.

This venture  is through BIRDS-5 a project developing and launching the first satellites of Uganda and Zimbabwe.

It is an international joint development and operations project of CubeSats, participated by the Kyushu Institute of Technology in Japan, and certain Asian and African nations such as Uganda, Japan, and Zimbabwe participated in the 5th BIRDS project and developed a CubeSat for each, a small cube-shaped satellite with 10 cm on each side. They named their CubeSats PearlAfricaSat-1 (Uganda), TAKA (Japan), and ZIMSAT-1 (Zimbabwe), among which the PearlAfricaSat-1 from Uganda and ZIMSAT-1 from Zimbabwe .
