Harare Magistrate Taurai Manuwere has granted the application for the separation of trials in the matter of Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC) members Makomborero Haruzivishe, Cecilia Chimbiri, Joana Mamombe, Stanley Manyenga and Lovejoy Chitengu.

They are accused of staging a demo in breach of Covid-19 regulations.

The state made an application for the separation of trials on the basis that Haruzivishe is on an outstanding warrant of arrest.

Legal Counsel of the accused Alec Muchadehama did not oppose to the application.

Manuwere then granted the application and remanded the matter to November 11 for the trial continuation of the four accused persons whilst the State pursue Haruzivishe separately.

Haruzivishe was issued with a warrant of arrest on September 6 after he failed to attend court.

The five are accused of having violated Covid-19 regulations, after staging an anti-government protest during lockdown.

They were arrested in Warren park in 2020 and were released on bail.
Haruzivishe was last year locked up after he defaulted court.

He was only released in January this year after clocking 10 months in jail.
