Air Zimbabwe has launched a braille safety card and braille version of the in- flight magazine.
Braille Skyhost magazine in English and the Safety card in vernacular language version were launched during the airline flight on the Harare – Bulawayo – Victoria Falls route on Friday.
AirZim Vice Board Chairperson Ruth Hungwe – Rukarwa said the visually impaired were usually left out and there was need to rope in them as well so that they also enjoy entertainment on board.
“What we have done is tapping in inclusiveness of the message that we get from our President Munangagwa who is sending the message of leaving no one behind,” she said.
“ Disability always put you on the back foot , but what we find is that we want to help them come through.”
Air Zim Spokesperson Ms Firstme Vitori echoed the same sentiments
“We want the visually impaired to have that entertainment on board ,” she said. We have done the launch with this short version , but I’m all the Skyhost editions we are going to have translation that will be done for braille.”
The magazine versions will be on their aircraft on every flight.
