The Zimbabwe Republic Police has confirmed the arrests of three suspects who had been wanted in connection with the How Mine armed robbery case involving 11.6kgs of gold .
In a press statement, the police named the robbers who had participated in the daring heist yesterday.
“Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the arrests of Anthony Moyo (39),Wilson Mutandwa (24) and Ernest Mutandwa (30) in connection with an armed robbery case which occured on 04 October 2022 at the 21km peg along the Bulawayo-How Mine road Douglasdale, Bulawayo,where 11.6 kgs of gold on transit from How Mine to Fidelity Printers,Bulawayo and four firearms were stolen,”the ZRP said.
Six other suspects who took part in the heists are still at large and the police has appealed to the nation to come through with any information leading to the arrests of the robbers.
The trio and their accomplices pounced on a cash in transit convoy that was heading to Fidelity Printers in Bulawayo before stealing 11.6kgs of gold valued at $650 000 and four firearms.
The ZRP said that detectives investigating the matter received a tip off that some of the stolen items were abandoned at a house currently under construction in Folly Road,West Summerton..
The detectives rushed to the scene and recovered car keys, three 9mmm spent cartridges, a black glove, a 303 rifle loaded with eight live rounds and three empty metal boxes.
