Zimbabwean cricket all rounder Sikandar Raza has made history by becoming the first Zimbabwean cricketer to win the coveted ICC Player Of The Month award.
The Chevron’s exploits in ODI series against Bangladesh and India were enough to seal the historic feat shrugging off stiffer competition from other all rounders.
Raza was in blistering form against Bangladesh and smashed successive centuries that helped Zimbabwe to defeat the more fancied Bangladesh in an ODI and T20 series.
Sikandar Raza defeated England star all-rounder Ben Stokes and New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner to claim the honours with his three ODI centuries during the month.
“I’m incredibly humbled and honoured to have won the player of the month award from the ICC more humbling that I’m the first Zimbabwean to ever win such an award,” Raza told the ICC.
Raza has been instrumental in Zimbabwe’s resurgence.His 135 unbeaten run performance against Bangladesh led to a first series win in years.
