CCC Vice President Lynnette Karenyi Kore says justice must prevail in the case of Joana Mamombe and Cecilia Chimbiri as the duo’s application for discharge at the close of state has been dismissed.

This comes after Harare Chief Magistrate Faith Mushure dismissed Citizens Coalition for Change Members ,Joana Mamombe and Cecilia Chimbiri application for discharge at the close of state with the defense case commencing on Thursday 15 September 2022.

“As Citizens , we pray that justice must prevail , the girls have been traumatized enough , they have never dodged any court case hence we pray as we go through the process they will be acquitted soon,”says VP Kore

Mamombe and Chimbiri are charged with communicating falsehoods prejudicial to the State after they allegedly faked their abductions in May 2020.

The two applied for discharge after the state closed its case last month through their lawyer Alec Muchadehama who submitted that the state failed to prove a prima facie against his clients.
