As part of the nation’s commitment to the success of the girl child in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector , on 13 May 2022, all roads will be leading to the Girls in ICT event which is set to take place at Regina Mundi Hall in Gweru.
For girls and young women to thrive in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) careers, they need safe and reliable access to the internet and digital tools.
The event will be running under the theme “Access and Safety”.
Access and Safety was selected as the 2022 thematic priority as part of the initial step for girls to be able to access the digital environment in a safe way.
Among the dignitaries that will grace the occasion “Girls in ICT” is Minister of of State and Devolution Midlands Province Honorable Larry Mavima ,and Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe Director Gift Kalisto Machengete.
The Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) continues to further its commitment to promote the girl child’s participation in the information communication Technology
International Girls in ICT Day, established by ITU and celebrated in over 150 countries around the world, celebrates girls and young women and encourages them to pursue studies and careers in the technology sector through training of coding, development of mobile applications and IT.
