The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Vice President Tendai Biti has slammed the government’s failure to respect human rights.
In a tweet,Biti castigated the government for it’s attempt to silence dissenting voices following the attempted abduction of Makomborero Haruzive on Monday.
“The latest attempt to kidnap
@MakomboreroH
is proof beyond reasonable doubt that the Mnangwagwa regime is an incorrigible regime with no respect of human rights.
It will never reconcile itself to the vision of a stable peaceful United democratic free Zimbabwe.The Zim we all want,”tweeted Biti
Social media is awash with a video from Monday night which shows Makomborero resisting arrest from unidentified men in plain clothes, claiming they are police officers.
He was only rescued by members of the public who were close by.
Government has intensified its crackdown on dissenting voices, targeting individuals who criticise ruling party Zanu PF .
Last month staunch opposition supporter Madzibaba VeShanduko was arrested and viciously beaten by the police on allegations of shouting obscenities to the police.
