The man responsible for Zimbabwe Warriors senior national team’s failure to progress in the next round of the Orange African Cup Of Nations (Afcon), hosted by Cameron earlier this year, Sadio Mané secured Senegal’s place at the World Cup last night.
The Liverpool talisman got the better of his fellow Liverpudlian compatriot Mohamed Salah with a win over Egypt on penalties after Salah was targeted by laser pointers as he stepped up to take his team’s first kick in the shootout.
The Liverpool hitman did a double on his teammate and as they say once beaten twice shy for Salah. It was Mané that scored the only solitary goal in the last second of Zimbabwe’s opener, an unfortunate penalty that condemned the Zimbabwe Warriors at this year’s tournament.
Mané kicked the winner from the spot in a 3-1 penalty shootout victory. It was like a repeat of the African Cup of Nations final last month when he also scored the winning penalty in a shootout against Salah and Egypt.
