Sybeth Musengezi, the man who is challenging the ascendancy of President Emerson Mnangagwa to the position of party leader, has denied allegations that he is aligned to Godfrey Tsenengamu’s Front for Economic Emancipation of Zimbabwe (FFEEZ).
Msengezi, who is a card carrying member of ZANU PF is seeking a court order declaring null and void a November 19, 2017 Zanu-PF central committee meeting that elected Mnangagwa as party leader after the late Robert Mugabe’s dismissal.
In his court papers,Musengezi said that he was a bonafide member of the ruling party and that allegations linking him to the FFEEZ party were baseless as he was not present when the outfit was turned into a political party..
“I am not and have never been a member of a political part going by the name and style of FFEEZ.”
“It is denied that I was party to turning FFEEZ into a political party and that I was present when the said Godfrey Tsenengamu turned it into a political party,”he said.
ZANU PF through it’s lawyers had threatened bro sue Musengezi, arguing that he had no legal basis to challenge Mnangagwa’s ascendancy to power since he had joined another party.
However,Musengezi is sticking to his guns and has refuted claims that he had been expelled from ZANU.
“I am unable to comprehend the deponent’s concept of expelling oneself but reckon that it means self expulsion I reiterate that the I did not expel myself from my membership of the 1st respondent, whether automatically or otherwise,”added Musengezi
ED succeeded Robert Mugabe who was recalled as the party’s First Secretary following a dramatic chain of events that saw the latter resigning after a coup.
