Zupco Turns To Solar

State owned Bus service,ZUPCO says it has turned to solar energy in a bid to improve lighting in the passenger railway coaches.

Thousands of Zimbabweans have lamented poor lighting in the train coaches ,especially those travelling at night.

However NRZ acting spokesperson Martin Banda sait the rolling out exercise of the solar panels was currently underway.

” Work is already in progress and we are working on putting solar panels on top of the trains so that we use solar energy. “

“So far we have installed the panels on four coaches in Bulawayo and we are working on the modalities because the process requires a lot of foreign currency,”Mr Banda said

The Zimbabwean government resolved to re introduce commuter train services under the ZUPCO banner twith services already in full swing in Harare and Bulawayo
