A 52-year old Bindura man beamons the day he decided to purchase a car using his hard-earned cash as he was defrauded by a 22-year old female.

It is the State’s outline that in July this year Wonder Machumi (52) met Tafadzwa Kandemiri (22) and connived with Marlvin Maposa (still at large), who advertised vehicles on his phone.

Machumi developed interest in a Toyota Wish which was allegedly being sold for a whooping US$4 000-00.

Acting in total darkness Machumi paid US$3 400-00 cash to Kandemiri and she gave him Maposa’s contact so that he would pay the balance through bank transfer.

Fortunately, the transfer was reversed. Kandemiri then told Machumi to pay US$520-00 to Maposa’s account via Mukuru and he successfully did and Machumi was told to expect his vehicle in three weeks time.

He waited patiently for the three weeks only to get the shock of his life when he realized that Kandemiri does not own any car sale and had no capacity to deliver the motor vehicle.

An affidavit which was signed between Machumi and Kandemiri as proof of payment, will be used as evidence.

The total money he was scammed amounts to US$3 860-00 and not even a cent has been recovered.

They will appear at the Bindura Magistrates court on December 26.
