Yesterday Zimbabwe topped the United Kingdom (UK) parliament agenda in the House of Lords.
Key issues discussed included the Patriotic Bill which clandestinely seeks to punish any Zimbabweans who support sanctions against the Harare regime.
The Parliament had this to say, “Last week did the Minister know that the Zimbabwe cabinet signed off on the criminal bill which will make it an offence for anyone to criticize President Mnangagwa and for any member of the opposition to speak to any foreign government in a negative manner?,”
Makomborero Haruzivishe who has been in prison for over 245 days for whistling also rightly topped the agenda.
The British Parliament showed reason to believe Mnangagwa is afraid of Chamisa’s Alliance of dislodging them from power no wonder there appears a deliberate tactic to continue delaying holding f by-elections.
The House of Commons alerted Continued political repression which has been seen in the unlawful and unconstitutional arrests and detentions of dissenting voices including journalists like award winning Hopewell Chin’ono, the folding of hands in solving the disappearance of Journalist Itai Dzamara, the continued trampling of justice for the likes of Joanna Mamombe, Cecilia Chinembiri and Zinasu President Takudzwa Ngadziore.
The UK parly also discussed Commonwealth non-eligibility as Zimbabwe seeks to be re-engaged back in the group of Commonwealth.
The British Legislator continued, “The timing that the Zimbabwean government is considering re – joining the Commonwealth, can the Minister make it clear that our government will only support, when the rule of law is restored, freedom of speech and political freedoms are protected.”
The Need for pressure from South Africa and Zambia on the Mnangagwa regime was also subject for debate.
