Olivine Industries CEO Sylvester Mangani has revealed that the entity is looking to invest US$24 million into a new margarine manufacturing plant in an effort to boost production.

Olivine Industries manufactures the Buttercup Margarine brand and produces 500 tonnes per months.

However the new plant will increase the production capacity to 4 500 tones per month.

Mangani said that the investment was aimed at improving the brand as it targets the international market.

“The whole idea is to improve the quality and the quantity of the product and have some for export because at the moment we are mainly producing for the local market,” he said.

The Buttercup Margarine brand commands a huge market share on the local market and has plans to start exporting to the international market
