The High court has granted bail to Campion Marowa,the man who is accused of allegedly shooting a Zupco conductor, in a suspected robbery attempt last month.
In granting the suspect bail,High Court judge Justice Webster Chinamhora set the bail at $20 000 and asked the accused to report three times a week at the Harare Central Police station as part of his bail conditions.
The suspect is facing charges related to theft, violation of firearms act and murder for killing Joyce Kazhumba ,a conductor on a Zupco-franchised bus at Kadada Shops in Dzivarasekwa 4 last month
The tragedy was witnessed by the bus driver who testified that Marawa tried to snatch a handbag from the bus conductor after being the last one to disembark.
However a scuffle ensued as the now deceased resisted the robbery attempt, resulting in the suspect pulling out a gun and shooting her once in the head.
Kuzhumba bled and died on the crime scene and Marowa fled the scene after the incident.
The suspect was arrested later that night at a shopping centre in Dzivarasekwa and the police recovered a 38 Astra Revolver and 2×38 spent cartridges.
