Health ministry launches smart vaccination cards

The Ministry of Health and Child Care says its newly launched vaccination cards are recognizable world where.

The country launched the smart vaccination cards as a way to counter the spread of fake vaccination cards and the Director of Health Informatics and Data Analytics in the Ministry of Health and Child Care, Dr Simukai Zizhou said the technology would be recognizable at all airports across the globe

“When we started vaccinated people we noted that counterfeit cards were being produced in the community hence we came up with this card.

What enables this card to be uploaded onto our electronic platform which you can verify across all ports worldwide is the embedded security card,”Dr Zizhou said.

Some airlines that are flying into the country have made it mandatory for passengers to produce vaccination cards before boarding and this has seen the proliferation of counterfeit vaccination cards as passengers try to circumvent the system.

The smart vaccination cards are equipped with enhanced security features that allows the QR code to be scanned to determine its authenticity at any airport across the world
