Zimbabwe government has awarded Bitumen World Limited a contract to refurbish the Seke road which connects the capital Harare and Chitungwiza with effect from 18 August 2021.
In a statement released on Monday, the company said that it has been contracted by the Department of roads in the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development to kick starts the project under Emergence Repair Program Phase 2.
“The reconstruction of a road necessitates rerouting of the traffic that normally uses the road,” the company said.
“The reconstruction will be closing off portions of the dual carriage way such that single lane traffic will operate on the remaining open carriageway.”
The construction company further urged motorists to use other alternative ways to town to reduce citing the construction to last up to three months to finish off.
In addition, the contract is in line with the National Development Strategy (2021-2025), launched by the government focusing on consolidation and transforming priority areas that will address the country’s development challenges through maintenance and repair of existing assets
