The government has postponed the reopening of schools for the second term by a further two weeks as COVID19 cases continue to surge.
This was announced by the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Monica Mutsvangwa during a post-Cabinet media briefing in Harare on Tuesday afternoon.
Cabinet considered that due to a surge in covid-19 cases, there is need to defer the reopening of schools by a further two weeks,” she said.
Schools were scheduled to open on 28 June for the second term.
Meanwhile, President Emmerson Mnangagwa extended the current level 4 lockdown by two weeks due to the continued rise of cases.
