Zimbabwe’s biggest opposition party, MDC Alliance has slammed leader of the MDC T Douglas Mwonzora for trying to mutilate the country’s constitution by begging for the cancelation of the impending by elections.

Mwonzora who was controversially elected MDC T president late last year through a highly contentious Supreme Court ruling clandestinely met President Emmerson Mnangagwa at the state residence.

He met Mnangagwa and his deputy Constantino Chiwenga on June 11 where he presented a document which his party has not publicly disclosed.

How, according to a document leaked to the media, one of the top meeting agenda items included the cancelation of the impending by elections, which is in sharp violation of the country’s constitution.

Responding to Mwonzora ‘s selfish proposal document, MDC Alliance leaders Advcoate Nelson Chamisa and his party’s Deputy Tendai Biti slammed the lawyer.

The two described the act as a clear evidence of a man who has no people’s mandate hence is afraid of elections.

Responding to Mwonzora’s demands to cancel by elections Nelson Chamisa said, “Mwonzora is afraid of an election. “

“He wants to prolong his illegitimate union with Zanu PF for as long as possible. He fears the day of reckoning when the people will speak out against his anti-people agenda.”

MDC Alliance Vice President, Advocate Tendai Biti slammed Mwonzora over the alleged proposal to have by-elections suspended.

“He has no shame, he has no limits, he has no elasticity no morality no decency. A brigand in a suit.”

Mwonzora won the Presidential position for MDCT party following a chaotic extraordinary congress that saw all his three opponents pull out in the middle of voting citing poll fraud.

Thokozai Khupe did not recognize Douglas Mwonzora’s leadership before she made a uturn few months later.
