MDC Alliance president Advocate Nelson Chamisa has condemned the destruction of buildings on the roadside saying it is the only way many people are surviving

Addressing the crowd during a visit of two party members who were acquitted after wrongfully jailed eighty years in Glen View yesterday, Adv Chamisa said the issue is not on destroying the buildings but people are trying to survive.

“ I saw buildings being destroyed, some said it is good because there are illegal structures, but I said no, the issue is not on destroying these buildings but people are looking for ways to survive,” said Adv Chamisa.

He further added that there should be a change in the country stabilising the economy before destroying their buildings for it is the only way in which many families are depending on.

“Before destroying these tuck shops lets first change the government and its function because people are looking for ways to survive, they are not stealing.”

MDC Alliance president further pointed out that government is always on the forefront to destroy and not to construct.

“Government is very clear when it comes to destroying, they will even come with graders to destroy buildings but when it comes to build houses for its people, you will not see them.”

Chamisa made his words at a time when government has rolled out a move to demolish all buildings including cars sales along road sides as a way of trying to maintain order in the city according to the Metropolitan Province’s Development Coordinator, Tafadzwa Muguti.
