Govt hunts down unregistered vehicles

The government is intensifying actions on the public transport system by hunting down unregistered vehicles.

Cabinet noted that to date 7 012 vehicles have been impounded for failure to display number plates and illegal operations.

Addressing a post-Cabinet briefing yesterday, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister, Monica Mutsvangwa, said, “ With regard to stepping up surveillance of the public transport system, the nation is informed that the Vehicle Inspectorate Department, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), and the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe (TSCZ) are flushing out the unregistered vehicles. “

The Zimbabwe Republic Police a few months ago highlighted that unregistered vehicles were not allowed to pass through tollgates.

According to the Vehicle Registration and Licensing Act, vehicles should be registered and always display their registration marks and numbers.
