MDC Alliance duo of Harare West MP Joanna Mamombe and party member Cecilia Chimbiri will continue languishing in prison after their bail application was postponed to Tuesday May 4 by High Court Judge Tawanda Chitapi.

The duo has been in prison since March on charges of failing to confine themselves at home during lockdown after they held a demonstration at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts.

Chitapi postponed the ruling on the basis that the judgement is not yet ready.

Police officers last Friday forcibly removed Mamombe out of a private Harare hospital where she was admitted receiving medical attention.

Meanwhile , the trial date for the duo on other allegations has been set to May 13 2021.

According to the state, they held a protest in Warren Park in Harare last year challenging the government to help the poor who had been locked in their houses without basic needs during the national lockdown.
