MDC Alliance Vice President says there are high levels of state capture in the country under President Mnangagwa’s firm grip , which are huge without any boundaries.
Biti states they are exacerbated and they are without limits, and Mnangagwa has totally emasculated all state institutions.
State capture is a type of systematic political corruption in which private interests significantly influence a state’s decision-making process to their own advantage.
In an interview with TechMag.tv Biti said , quite a number of institutions have been captured with the state authorities having a firm grip on them.
“The three state institutions in Zimbabwe the judiciary , executive , legislative and one could add the chapter 12 of the constitution anti corruption commission , the human rights commission , the gender commission and finally the national peace and reconciliation commission.”
Biti added that , “the grip of Emmerson on these institutions is unwavering , unmitigated it’s a vice like grip so the first lesson is that there is total state capture in Zimbabwe.”
“The second lesson is that you are essentially dealing with a deranged individual , deranged system someone without boundaries , someone without limits there is no elasticity at all you have to budget for the abnormal he will do things that are unexpected.”
“thirdly the lessons to derive there is that we cant trust these institutions we cant trust any institution in Zimbabwe we are on our own , “said Biti.
Issues of state capture have made waves in the country with the reporting of fuel cartels , money laundering cartels and various cases of corruption.
