Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) have arrested four touts who featured in a social media video while harassing an elderly woman at Dulibadzimu Rank, Beitbridge. The touts will appear in court today.

Known as ”hwindi’s” in vernecular the touts were seemingly fighting to get her to board their bus because they get paid on commission for the people they bring.

In a statement on Wednesday ZRP said ,”The ZRP has arrested the four touts who were involved in the physical manhandling & harassment of a woman in a video which went viral recently. “

ZRP added that it applauds all Zimbabweans for the co-operation and concern over the conduct of the touts while urging the public to report all incidents of harassment by touts taking note of the location, date, time and the name of the bus company involved.

A hushtag #no to touting and harassment of women has since started.

Last week a video circulated on Social Media showing a woman who was being harassed by hwindis whilst crying for help.

The Zimbabwe National Organisation of Associations and Residents Trusts (ZNOART) has condemned the abuse of female passengers bus operators, hwindis and conductors.

In a statement, ZNOART demanded that police arrest the culprits immediately
