Health and Child Care Minister and Vice President Constantino Chiwenga said government will be forced to make Covid 19 vaccination certificates a prerequisite for public services if citizens continue shunning the inoculation exercise.
In an interview with Ruvheneko Parirenyatwa yesterday, the Health Minister justified the move as government targets to vaccinate 60 percent.
“Remember the COVID-19 certificates, eventually they are going to become our passports,” he said.
The Vice President further said that globally, vaccination certificates have become a traveling passport.
“If you watch the news globally, you will see that there are deliberations in all capitals on vaccination passports.”
This comes as an emphasis following an address by President Emmerson Mnangagwa last month in Bulawayo that there would come a time when vaccination would become mandatory.
“You won’t be forced to be vaccinated. But there will come a time when if you are not vaccinated, you will not be able to get a job, if you are not vaccinated you will not able to board a Zupco bus. Eventually, you will have to decide for yourself,” he said then.
