Seven Advanced Level students at Prince Edward High School in Harare have tested positive for COVID-19.
The tests were confirmed after the school head sent all its 265 borders for COVID-19 testing at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.
In a letter to parents dated 24 March 2021, Prince Edward High School headmaster Dr Aggrippa Sora said that positive COVID-19 cases were confirmed on the first batch.
“Unfortunately, the first batch of results has indicated that (7) seven 6 Upper borders tested positive for COVID-19. “
“The rest of the results are still to come in but all 265 boarders were tested with the last test done on Wednesday 24 March 2021,” he said.
He added that the affected pupils have been quarantined while awaiting instruction from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.
According to the Ministry of Health as at 24 March 2021, Zimbabwe had 36 749 confirmed cases, including 34 476 recoveries and 1 516 deaths. To date, a total of 49 404 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
