The MDC Alliance Secretary General Charlton Hwende has denied and scoffed at rumors that he is at the centre of infighting within their party, stating that these are just but lies meant to derail the focus and attention of the nation to imaginary warfares.
Hwende however acknowledged that he indeed removed Job Sikhala from their WhatsApp group, but only as a routine security measure after he was arrested, but denied that Thabita Khumalo ever left the group neither would he harass such a senior member.
“Indeed I removed Hon Sikhala from the group as soon as we knew he was arrested, this is our standard security measure to keep our conversation going on without possible risks of external interference, incase his mobile phone is used against his will” said Hwende
Job Sikhala is said to have confirmed the act and fully agreed that it was only standard security issue to keep their internal communications during the time he was incarcerated.
Responding on Thabitha Khumalo issue, Hwende said she is a very senior member never to be bullied by him and scoffed at the news that she was chucked off their internal National Standing Committee Whatsapp group.
“Chair Khumalo is too senior to be bullied by small boys like me, even if I wanted to do so, she is a member our Whatsapp group, she has never left and these side shows are created by people with petty agendas” said Hwende.
The MDC Secretary General insisted that their party was intact and only outsiders are wishing and praying for internal warfare, hence they can only create them.
The Secretary General said that the party has never had a stronger executive since formation, and smooth relationship between the president and the secretary general, hence their detractors are at great pains.
The MDC Alliance however recently lost their deputy treasury general Senator Lilian Timvious who was recently recalled and reported to be financially vulnerable, and Blessing Chebundo who lost the internal primaries in Kwekwe Central to Judith Tobaiwa
The two candidates joined ZanuPf last week but supporters called them bitter losers who no longer had a future in the opposition politics.
