MDC Alliance youth leaders Joana Mamombe and Cecilia Chimbiri have been denied bail by Harare Magistrate magistrate Stanford Mambanje.
He remanded the two in custody until 18 February.
They were arrested on Monday after they allegedly followed and shouted obscenities at a police vehicle at the new parliament building.
Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights revealed the deny of bail to the duo.
“Harare West MP Hon. Mamombe & Chimbiri return to Chikurubi Maximum Prison after they were denied bail by Harare Magistrate Mambanje & were remanded in custody to 18 February.”
“Bail was refused on the basis that there is little reason to trust the duo that they will not commit offences while on bail. We don’t agree with the decision and we will contest it and obviously we will appeal against the refusal to grant bail.”
The Magistrate stated that the duo has a propensity to commit further offences once freed, since they have been arrested while on bail of previous two pending cases.
