Harare mayor Jacob Mafume has been remanded to custody until January 28 2021 after Magistrate Ngoni Nduna denied him bail.

Nduna denied him bail on conditions that he breached his bail conditions by interfering with the witness.

Mafume was arrested on Monday for the second time on fresh charges for allegedly attempting to bribe a key witness in his corruption allegations case.

His attempts to seek bail has been crashed by Magistrate Nduna.

In passing the bail ruling he said , “There was a condition for him not to interfere.”

” He has already interfered with a witness this cannot be cured by any other condition but to send him to jail. Imprisonment only remedy. Bail is denied”

Mafume was granted $ZWL30 000 bail last week following close to 13 days in custody.

He was arrested on allegations of criminal abuse of office involving illegal parcelling of residential stands.
