Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume has been arrested for the second time on fresh charges for allegedly attempting to bribe a key witness in his corruption allegations case.
Mafume was arrested during his routine remand at Harare Magistrate Court.
Permanet Secretary of Information Publicity and Broadcasting Services Nick Mangwana posted the development on microblogging site Twitter.
“Harare Mayor has been arrested for trying to bribe the chief witness in the case for which he is on bail.”
Mafume is currently out on ZWL$30 000 facing charges of criminal abuse of office while, being accused parcelling a housing stand to his sister without following due process.
