MDC Alliance Vice Chair Job Sikhala has called for international mediation from the United Nations and SADC on the ongoing abuse of human rights , continued abductions in the country.

The vibrant Zengeza West MP states that citizens in the country should be able to exercise their democratic human rights without being templed on by the ruling regime.

His remarks comes after Investigative Journalist Hopewell Chin’ono was on Tuesday evening arrested again for allegedly breaking bail conditions.
The second arrest is thought to have been prompted by a tweet sent five days ago suggesting the chief justice of Zimbabwe, Luke Malaba, had intervened to deny Chin’ono bail.

Briefing Journalists on Wednesday Sikhala said ,“ Fundamental human rights are the corner stone of any democratic society Zimbabwe can not continue on the path of dictatorship and authoritarism the way things are being run in our country at the present moment.”

“we are asking even the international community , the regional members of our state that there is truly a crisis in our country crisis of persecuting those who hold contrary views to the current government , that is unpresented abduction , tourture and human rights abuses in our country.”

“we call upon SADC to make sure that this crisis do not escalate to a full fleged conflict ,we also call upon the United Nations for intervention.”

Human rights abuse and arrets have been escalating in the country while close to 500 activists were arrested during the course of the lockdown.

Chin’ono was was first arrested in July on charges of inciting public violence and spent almost six weeks at Chikurubi Maximum Prison.
He was denied bail several times and granted on the fourth attempt his arrest and detention with Jacob Ngarivhume , Job Sikhala , Tsitsi Dangarembga and several others shows a crack down on the issue of human rights in the country.
