United Refineries Limited (URL), the leading innovative producer of brands in personal care, hygiene and value added agro products categories has announced the suspension of its operations in Bulawayo due to limited of water supply in the city.
This comes after the company has been experiencing acute shortages of water supply for the past seven days without any improvement.
“We regret to inform our customers, suppliers and stakeholders that we have had limited water supplies to our factory for the past seven days and the situation has not improved. As a result, we have had temporarily suspend our operations as we await the situation to normalize,” the company said in statement.
The company however said will continue to engage with the Bulawayo City Council to bring the situation to normalcy.
“We continue to engage Bulawayo City Council with regards to returning the situation to normality. We are aware this is happening as we prepare for the festive season stocking programmes and promotions.”
Bulawayo is among cities facing water challenges in the country.
Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA) has completed drilling 10 boreholes that were under rehabilitation at Epping Forest in Nyamandlovu and this will see 10 mega litres being pumped per day.
