Zimbabwe’s First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa dismissed attempts to link her and son Collins to the Zimbabwe Miners Federation president Henrietta Rushwaya and her accomplices who were busted at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport attempting to smuggle 6kg of gold to Dubai.

In a statement the First Lady challenged the police through their important office to give an announcement with respects the expressions by one official during her capture that dishonestly involved her and Collins.

“As First Lady my obligation is above all else to Zimbabwe as a country. I serve every single Zimbabwean entire heartedly and selfless. I serve the interests of my country and no person. I don’t take part in illicit extremist interests like gold smuggling.

“I have no dealings nor inclusion with Miss Henrietta Rushwaya of any illicit kind. I am challenging the police through their significant office to give an announcement,” she said

The First Lady further emphasised that she is a strong supporter for straightforwardness and trustworthiness and any proceeded with quiet by the police can be misinterpreted as a cover up.

“I am a strong advocate for transparency and honesty and any continued silence by the police can be misconstrued as a cover up. If there is any incriminating evidence against me I challenge the police to present it to the nation without fear or favour,” she added.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police have since set up that Gift Karanda name-dropped when he was caught alongside Rushwaya so as to wriggle himself and his co-blamed out for the gold smuggling case.

In a statement issued yesterday the ZRP affirmed that Karanda is facing the charges of contravening with the Criminal Codification and Reform Act , Obstructing the Course of Justice”.

“He is also facing charges of violating section 3(1)(a) of the gold Trade Act (Chapter 21;03), dealing in and ownership of gold without being a holder of a permit grant and furthermore contradicting segment 182 (1) of the Customs and Excise Act (Chapter 23;02), smuggling.

“This identifies with the expressions to police officers at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport on October 26, 2020, when he demonstrated that there was no case as the gold belonged to the First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa and her son Collins Mnangagwa.

This comes as instances of name dropping have been on the peak in the country with people, remembering some corrupt elements for the security administrations, inspiring names of Government authorities to propel their corrupt tendencies.
