Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Zimbabwe has condemn the continued attack and deteriorating safety of Journalists , reporting that quite a number of media practitioners have been assaulted by state authorities during the COVID19 lockdown.
The media watchdog urged the state to take necessary measures that guarantee the safety and security of Journalists.
In a press statement MISA ,” Raised concern at the increasing number of attacks on media workers and the deteriorating safety and security environment for journalists.
“Since the beginning of the implementation of the COVID-19 regulations on 30 March 2020, MISA Zimbabwe has recorded at least 30 media violations.”
Various Journalists have been attacked, robbed and assaulted , recently 6 Journalists were brutally attacked while covering a press conference near Impala Car Rental.
The the arrest of journalists include Hopewell Chin’ono who spent almost 45 days in detention at Chikurubi Maximum Prison.
