MDC Alliance Vice Chairperson Job Sikhala says that the notorious Chikurubi Maximum Prison is not fit of human habitation as the conditions there are inhuman.
The vibrant Chairperson commented on the prison state after spending almost a month and saying the place is in a bad state and must be shutdown.
Sikhala made the remarks in an interview with eNCA ,” The conditions at Chikurubi Maximum Prison is that it does not worth human habitation by all standards its one prison which must be condemned.”
“In the new order we are going to make sure that we shut down that horrific structure which the government is saying is a prison,” he said.
Sikhala was arrested on 21 August on charges of inciting public violence prior to the planned July 31 protests.
He spent almost a month in detention at Chikurubi and was released last week on ZWL$50,000 bail.
Following his release after 40 days from the same Prison Investigative Journalist Hopewell Chin’ono made the same sentiments concerning Chikurubi.
