The Harare Magistrate Court has issued a warrant of arrest for Harare West Member of Parliament (MP) Joana Mamombe after she failed to attend court for trial on charges she is facing of fcaing abduction.

Mamombe together with Netsai Marova and Cecilia Chimbiri are facing charges of faking an abduction and their trial date was postponed to 29 September 2020.

On the 13th of May 2020 the trio and other MDC Alliance youth gathered in Warren Park and staged a demonstration and it is on the same date that the Opposition Youth Officials also communicated with their family, friends and legal counsel that they had been arrested and detained at Harare Central Police.

However when their legal counsel went to the Police Station at the CID Law and Order Section they were informed their clients were not there as they had not been arrested even after verifications. Two days later the Counsel informed the Police that their clients had been found in Bindura at Muchapondwa Business Centre.

The police together with the lawyers attended the scene as they went to pick them up and get the trio’s statements pertaining to the matter.

Mr Alec Muchadehama their lawyer told Harare magistrate Mrs Bianca Makwande that Mamombe failed to attend court because she was admitted at a health centre in Harare. He also informed the court that Mamombe’s doctors told him that she was suffering from anxiety problems and could not attend court.

Recently ZBC released a video it claimed exposed the trio was lying about their abductions and it received a lot of negative comments as most social media users denounced it on allegations of being fake and lousy.
