Job Sikhala is awaiting an indefinite judgement for his bail appeal from the Harare High Court after his lawyer Jeremiah Bhamu appealed on his behalf on Monday.
Sikhala who is Movement for Democratic Change Alliance (MDC A) Deputy Chairperson was arrested on the @1st of August 2020 for inciting public violence for the 31 July movement after being in hiding.
He was on the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) wanted list that was released on the 27th of July 2020 as they sought activists for interviews. However Sikhala denied having knowledge of this as he alleges he was always available at his home, office and rural home.
Sikhala was denied bail by Chief Magistrate Lazini Ncube at Magistrates Court at Rotten Row who ruled that he was a flight risk. The magistrate also said the politician is facing a serious offence which might induce him to flee if released on bail.
The bail application was last week delayed after Magistrate Munamato Mutevedzi refused to sign the lower court proceedings that had happened on the Wednesday prior to the application date.
The appeal was not heard because the record from the Magistrates Court was not there, prompting the judge to order chief magistrate Munamato Mutevedzi to sign it.
Jeremiah was heard before Justice Erica Ndewere and she postponed judgement indefinitely.
In a phone conversation with Techmag Tv Bhamu said,”We have been heard before Justice Ndewere and she has postponed judgement indefinitely and she will tell us when the judgement is ready.”
Asked on how Sikhala had reacted to the current developments Jeremiah also said,”my client is happy with the submissions made and remains cautiously optimistic.”
