Mwonzora, Khupe recall more MDC Alliance Councillors

Thokozani Khupe and Douglas Mwonzora of the controversial MDC T party have again recalled eight more councillors who were voted into city council in 2018 under MDC Alliance ticket.

The eight are from Bulawayo.

The political group, armed with a supreme court judgement has so far recalled 22 councillors belonged to Nelson Chamisa party in a space of 24 hours.

The Khupe led faction continues recalling senators and councillors belonging to the MDC-Alliance and have moved to replace the recalled legislators with candidates of their own choosing.

In a letter addressed to the Minister of Local Government and Public works Honourable July Moyo states that in terms of section 278 of the constitution of Zimbabwe, as read with Section 129 following,”…Zana Clayton Ward 19, Maposa Tinevimbo Ward 21,Rafamoyo Ernest Ward 20,Mabuto Donald Ward 9,Kambarami Tinashe Ward 3,Mlilo Lillian Ward 12,Mlalazi Concilia Ward 18,Hlabano Norman Ward 26.”

Adding,”In terms of Section 278 (1) of the Constituition of Zimbabwe,as read with Section 129(1)(k) Wards 19,21,20,9,3,12,18 and 26 are now vacant.”

“This is in terms of section 121 of the Electoral Act,please inform the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission(ZEC).”
