Politician and member of parliament for Kuwadzana under the MDC Alliance Miriam Mushayi died on Monday at Harare Hospital after a short illness.
Mushayi collapsed at Harare Magistrates Court last week were she had gone in solidarity with the party’s Deputy Chairperson Job Sikhala.Her cause of death is yet to be announced.
MDC Alliance announced the passing on of Mushayi on their social media platforms saying,”We are saddened to learn of the untimely passing on of MDC Alliance MP for Kuwadzana Constituency Miriam Mushayi today. Mourners are gathered at 5 Power Close, Ashdown Park, Harare. We have lost a dedicated cadre and consummate democrat. May Her Dear Soul Rest In Eternal Peace.”
MDC A President Nelson Chamisa also tweeted saying,”The passing on of Hon Mirriam Mushayi (MP)is a huge blow upon previous other multiple blows. It has been torrid and terrible. It never rains but it pours. Tragedies hunt in packs moves in droves. When sorrows come, they come not in single files but in battalions. RIP people’s leader.”
Vice President Lynet Kore expressed her condolences on her twitter handle saying,”Condolences to the Mushayi Family & @mdczimbabwe.I’m deeply saddened by the passing of Hon Mirriam Mushayi a sister, close friend, colleague & founding Member of the MDC. I would like to extend my deepest condolences to her family, loved ones and express my gratitude.”
Tendai Biti who is also MDC A Vice President tweeted,”The sudden death of the indefatigable Hon Miriam Mushayi is a body blow to our movement .She was a warm powerful ,cheerful cadre .We have lost a gallant daughter of the struggle .What a tough year 2020 is.We are taking body blow after body blow.May your Rest In Peace #MaiMushayi.”
Many of the MDC Alliance members inclusive of Clifford Hlatshwayao,Obey Sithole,Womberai Nhende also expressed their condolences on their social media platforms .
Mushayi will be laid to rest on Thursday at her village in Magunje-Hurungwe.
