Godfrey Kurauone was yesterday denied bail for the third time at Masvingo Magistrates Court.This was the second application of bail at the same courts after the first one was dismissed as well as the second attempt at the Masvingo High Court.
Kurauone who is the Movement for Democratic Change Alliance (MDC A)’s Youth Assembly National Organising Secretary was arrested on two counts which are criminal nuisance and obstructing or endangering free movement of persons or traffic.
It is alleged on the 31st of July 2020, around 0600 hours the accused person together with six others who are still at large teamed up and proceeded to Gathsmine Chirimhanzu road Mashava,where they blocked the road with stones and burnt vehicle tyres.
He was arrested on the same day at 1600hours at CID Law and Order Masvingo when he had gone for reporting for another case.
He is now currently in Masvingo Remand Prison on the second count according to the Request for remand in Section B that reads,”COUNT TWO Obstructing or endangering free movement of persons or traffic as defined in Section 38 (c) of the criminal law codification and reform Act Chapter 9,23.On the 31st of July 2020 at around 0600hours the accused blocked the road by putting stones and burnt tyres along Gaths Mine-Chumanzu road for a stretch of 500 metres.”
Section C of the same Document also stated the reasons for opposing bail saying,”1. Accused person likely to abscond court since he is facing a serious charge.”
“2.If given bail,accused person is likely to commit other other offences.”
“3.Accused person is facing other charges in this court,ZRP Chikato CR96/06/20 and Masvingo magistrate court CRB 867/20”
