Chin’ono banned from social media

Investigative Journalist Hopewell Ch’nono was on Wednesday banned from social media after being granted ZWL$10000 bail.

Chi’nono was barred from using his Twitter account to ‘incite the holding of mass demonstrations’ whilst on bail.

His Lawyer Doug Coltart said they are in the process of finding out if he will be allowed to use Twitter outside of ‘incitement.

Briefing the media on his way out from last night Chikurubi Chi’nono said , “They have removed me from Twitter,but not from Facebook. I’ll continue writing on Facebook.”

Chi’nono’s case , arrest and allegations were eliminating from his Twitter account ,which he used to expose government corruption.

Following his arrest on July 20 his Twitter account disappeared.

Users visiting his account receive this message “This account doesn’t exist try searching for another”.

Prior to the arrest his last tweet probably was “,They are breaking into my home. Alert the world!Police and State agents are harrasing my workers at home!.”

He was released with ZWL$10000 bail on Wednesday after spending almost 45 days in detention at Chikurubi Maximum Prison on allegations of inciting public violence.
