Vibrant MDC Alliance Vice Chairperson Job Wiwa Sikhala has been arrested, the opposition party has confirmed.
The MDC Alliance confirmed the latest development via micro blogging Twitter, “#BREAKING MDC Alliance Vice Chairman Job Sikhala has been arrested. He is attending at the police station with his lawyer. Details to follow.”
“We object to the continued persecution of our members. #JobSikhala has not committed any crime. His arrest is unlawful and we demand his immediate release. #FreeJobSikhala,” the party added.
According to sources, Sikhala was fished out from his hideout in the western part of Harare, Madokere after a tip off.
Sikhala went into hiding more than a month ago after it emerged that members of the security forces were hunting for him over his alleged involvement in the foiled July 31 Movement.
He was part of dozens of opposition members on police wanted list.
