Government has adjusted the dusk to dawn curfew and operating business hours with immediate effect.

Businesses closing times have now been adjusted to 16:30,with the 6pm curfew being moved to 8pm.

The development was announced In post cabinet briefing today Tuesday by Minister of Defence and war veterans Affairs Oppah Muchinguri.

“Having noted the plight of the public and the need to lessen the risk of contracting COVID-19, Cabinet directed as follows, that the business hours which were ending at 15:00 hours be revisited to end at 1630 hours and the curfew to be extended to 2000 hours.”

Business were finding it hard to operate on calculated time , while some retail shops and food outlets were now violating the 15:00pm closing time.

President Mnangagwa imposed the dusk to dawn and business operations curfew in July as part of measurees to contain COVID19 amid a spike in the number of cases.

Skeptics however noted that this rushed decision was only meant to quell the purported 31 July demonstrations which were slated nationwide.

Cabinet also noted that Public transport drivers should undergo regular COVID-19 PCR tests and that public transport buses be allowed a dedicated lane at roadblocks.

Currently the country has recorded 5 308 positive Covid19 cases and 135 deaths as of 17 August 2020.
