Thirty members of the national broadcaster, Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) have contracted the pandemic COVID-19, the company has said.
The company announced the latest development via its official broadcasting platforms on Tuesday.
“ZBC wishes to advise that thirty members of staff have tested positive for COVId 19.All 30 are currently isolating at home.The Corporation continues to follow Govt and WHO guidelines with periodic testing, premises disinfection and PPE provision,” ZBC posted on Twitter.
Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation acting Chief Executive Officer, Helliate Rushwaya late last month announced that were suspending other programmes to allow testing of employees and disinfection of the premises.
“We would like to notify all staff that as a result of this development, staff on duty will be tested at Pockets Hill on Wednesday 29th July 2020.This will be in addition to the pre-scheduled disinfection of Pockets Hill premises taking place on the same day, Normal programming from Pockets Hill for both radio and television will be affected until further notice,” she said.
She had also ordered all employees with remote work capabilities to work from home with only critical staff expected to report for work.
The latest revelation is a result of the testing carried out few weeks ago.
Zimbabwe has to date recorded 4748 confirmed COVID-19 cases including 104 deaths. The thirty will however add to that figure
