The government will with immediate effect deploy members of Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) and health officers at all funerals in a bid to curb the spread of COVID-19.
The information was revealed by the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services permanent Secretary Nick Mangwana via his Twitter account.
“From now, Police and Health officials will be deployed at funerals as Covid19 measures. DMO, Dr Kamuriwo says only 4 people would be in the room with the body. Traditional leaders, ministries, NGOs and Community Based Volunteers will be trained to play a role.”
The country is currently experiencing high cases of COVID-19 on daily basis due to the cold weather.
To date more than 2000 cases have been recorded including more than 26 deaths.
The President on Tuesday announced new lockdown regulations to combat the spread of COVID-19.
