Multi Award winning journalist Hopewell Chin’ono and Transform Zimbabwe leader Jacob Ngarivhume who are accused of inciting public violence have their bail ruling postponed to Thursday morning due to latest COVID-19 lockdown regulations.
The two were separately arrested on Monday.
One of the lawyers currently involved in the case of the duo Douglas Coltart posted on his Twitter, “Both Hopewell and Jacob’s bail hearings have been postponed until tomorrow morning on the basis that due to the curfew courts are closing early. Ruling for Jacob at 11:15. Continuation of bail hearing for Hopewell at 8:30 am. They will he detained at Harare Remand Prison tonight.”
Ngarivhume is calling for nationwide protests on July 31 to push President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government to fight corruption and a deteriorating economy under hashtag #ZanupfMustGo.
Chin’ono was most recently working on allegations of corruption relating to the procurement of Covid-19 supplies by the health ministry which saw the firing of then Health and Child Care Minister Obadiah Moyo.
He recently hinted on exposing the beneficiaries of the controversial local farming scheme, Command Agriculture.
