As the COVID -19 cases spike excessively in Zimbabwe,the Tertiary Education Institutions have been instructed to suspend face to face lectures on campus.
Zimbabwe now has 1713 positive confirmed cases and 26 deaths.The country’s government has also tightened the on going lockdown restrictions as of Monday.
All Teachers,Polytechnic and Industrial Training Colleges principals have all been instructed by the Ministy of Higher and Tertiary Education,Science and Technology Development’s Permanent Secretary Professor Fanuel Tagwira in a letter that read,”It is now observed that Covid 19 cases are escalating daily and this may put the lives of students and members of staff in our institutions at high risk.”
“In view of the foregoing,the Ministry is hereby directing that all tertiary education institutions,with immediate effect,suspend face to face lecturea on campus and continue with e-learning.”
” In this regard,all students should vacate halls of residence by Friday ,24July 2020.”
“The Ministry is working flat out to ensure all institutions are adequately resourced withthe necessary infrastructure to facillitate access to quality e-learning.”
