President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s son (name withheld) is alleged to have been duped more than USD$25 000 in a controversial stand deal, TechMag TV can exclusively reveal.
The property, lot 12 Tynwald township of Tynwald ( Ashdown Park) now legally belonging to RM-Africa Property Consultants (Pvt) Ltd trading as Rawson Properties in partnership with Hayes Construction is under attack from land barons.
The land in question previously belonged to Martin Sibidi and company before a court order handed it to Rawson ownership following some disputes.
This was after the court had disposed the land from the previous owners under a judicial management order.
Since the court had no money to develop the land, they hired Rawson Properties and Hayes who then got more than 360 stands measuring 500 square metres each as developmental payment.
In confirming the current arrangement, the company said via a statement in possession of this publication, ” RM-Africa Property Consultants (Pvt) Ltd (Rawson Properties) in partnership with Hayes Construction (Pvt) Ltd wish to advise members of the public that it was duly mandated to develop the above mentioned property and development is in the process to that end and nearing completion. We further advise that;
- No construction of houses, including occupation, should take place on the stands
until the development is complete, and we are in possession of a certificate of compliance from City of Harare. - That all sales of the stands below should be done through either Hayes Construction or Rawson Properties.
17722-17817,17820-17838,17940-17959,17995-18019,18021-18025,18027-18032,18034-18037,18039-18045,18049-18050,18052-18054,18072-18076,18080,17960-17994,17848
- Those who have purportedly purchased stands from the development through other individuals are required to verify such sale/purchase with Rawson Properties or Hayes
Construction immediately,” the statement reads.
Though it’s not clear how and the number of stands purchased on that land, it is alleged that the President’s son fell victim of a dubious transaction involving land barons.
But it is believed that he bought the stands from a land baron only identified as Katsande.
Further investigations also show that not only him but several desperate land seekers have lost huge amounts of money on the same piece of land.
A source revealed to this reporter that on Saturday night, a team of more than 35 bouncers invaded the area, attacked the security guards and destroyed temporary structures.
” I was called in the middle of the night on Saturday that there were thugs destroying temporary structure close to my two stands. I had to rush there but fortunately my stands were not affected. Right now i am busy mobilizing resources to erect a temporary structure on the the other stand to secure it.”
” We are confused now and everyone is in panic mode especially after Saturday’s incident where even security guards were attacked by these thugs. I bought my two stands through Hayes,” the source told this publication.
This was, according to the source, a reactionary gesture by one of the duped top officials.
Rawson Properties official who preferred anonymity confirmed to this publication the current tense atmosphere around the property.
” Yes it’s true, we received a report on the attacks of security guards on our property and we have since reported the matter to the police.”
” We have never double allocated any stand since we took ownership. What’s happening currently is obviously the work of land barons. Since our papers are in order we are currently working on evicting all illegal settlers on our property,” the source said.
The official added that they haven’t received a certificate of compliance from Harare City Council for stand development.
” Those erecting structures on the land are doing so illegally because we haven’t received a certificate of compliance to commence the process. We are still in the process of acquiring it and we should be done in the next 30 days and that’s when legal occupants can start developing their stands,” the source added.
Both genuine and fake owners have since erected temporary structures to protect their stands from the land barons who are believed to be taking advantage of any unoccupied area.
Meanwhile, the company has assured those who followed the right purchasing channels not to worry about the current shenanigans by the land barons.
” Those who purchased their stands through Rawson Properties and Hayes are very safe and they don’t need to panic by putting up illegal structures to protect their investment. Like I said we are in the process of evicting all those who would have acquired the land through fraudulent activities.”
